LouAy
Lou Ay is selling biscuits to the people waiting at Abu Houli check-point. The little money he earns helps his family to survive.
Among the people waiting, some were simply trying to reach their job. Due to this closure, the lucky few who still have a job can work on average 3 days a week.
Many of these families were just trying to reach Khan Yunis (10 km away) or Rafah (20 km away) to visit relatives or go back home. And they were blocked here at the check-point since 5 days ago, sleeping on the ground or in their car (most of them carrying 6-7 people). To cover a distance of a few kilometers Palestinians never know in advance how long it will take.
Trucks were trying to transport their goods from one city to another. Loads of vegetables or fruits very often rot at check-points, dramatically increasing the difficulties of resupplying.
People expressed their anger and despair provoked by this oppressive closure.
"Why do they do this to us?"
"What have we done to deserve this?"
"It's our land, they don't have the right to do it!"
"Why do Arab and European governments abandon us?"
"Sharon is a criminal"
"We want justice"
"We want to live in peace on our own land!"
"We are ready to live in peace with our neighbour Israel!"

and so on...
