GAZA STRIP Gaza strip is approximately 360 square kilometers and 1'200 000 Palestinians live there. 42 % of the territory is under Israeli military control (to protect 6'000 settlers.) The "settlements areas" serve as buffer zones between the settlements and the Palestinians. They are constantly expanded by illegally expropriating Palestinians and systematically destroying their houses and cultivations. The roads build to connect settlements directly to Israel divide the palestinian territory into 3 zones. The circulation between these 3 zones is possible only through 2 checkpoints, which are often closed. The resulting situation of appartheid is clearly visible on the map.
